The Hide tool Google SketchUp Plugin by Todd Burch with Smustard.com is a tool to easily hide faces and sides in your model with one click. Rather than the traditional way to right click and then click the hide button. This tool is a great idea in theory, but in practice is almost more of an annoyance than the traditional route of hiding parts of your model.
Using SketchUp version 7.1 the tool tends to stay locked at the on position. So now you have lost all functionality of the regular left click and all that happens is your model keeps disappearing, in order to get rid of it restarting SketchUp is necessary (at least with my experience). Of course you can undo your last action or just simply go to the edit menu and click the unhide all button. But the turning this tool off has proven to be futile. This tool needs some more work. But if it did work correctly you can add a custom shortcut for this tool to make it as simple as a click. While we’re at it, you can actually create this tool very easily on your own just by going to the preferences window and just make the traditional route of hiding objects a shortcut! Its as simple as that.
Overall, the Hide tool Google SketchUp Plugin by Todd Burch is a good idea but not worth the download. You can simply create a similar option by playing with your shortcuts in the preferences window. I actually suggest to checkout these options and customize your shortcuts, you will not believe how easy it is to do and how much time you can save while editing your model. At the time of this review the Hide tool plugin on Smustard.com is free. I give it 1 out of 5 stars.
